The Acura press release talks about two of the trim levels that are going to be available for the 2023 Acura Integra. We have the base Integra and the A-Spec. There is also a Technology Package that adds a bigger infotainment screen, additional exterior lighting, proximity sensors, and more. The Integra Type S is expected to arrive a bit later.

We know the base engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four with VTEC, rated at 200 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 192 pound-feet (260 Nm) at 1,800 to 5,000 RPM. The base gearbox is a CVT unit with paddle-shifters, but a close-ratio six-speed will be available for the Integra A-Spec. The latter also comes with rev-matching and a limited-slip differential.

The 2023 Acura Integra Type S, is going to get the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four from the Honda Civic Type R. It will be paired with a six-speed manual or, optionally, a 10-speed automatic. At this point, the Super Handling all-wheel-drive system will not be available for the 2023 Integra, which means all versions will be front-wheel drive only.

Starting with the wheels, the base Integra comes with 17×7-inch wheels wrapped in 215/50R-17 tires while the Integra A-Spec gets 18×8-inch wheels wrapped in 235/40R-18 tires. That said, 19-inch wheels can be installed as a dealer option. Regardless of the wheel size, behind them sit brakes that are 12.3-inch at the front and 11.1-inch at the rear.

In terms of lighting, the “Chicane” DRL headlights and taillights are standard on all trim levels. LED fog lights are available on A-Spec and above while exterior puddle lights come only with the Technology package.

The A-Spec will come with an A-Spec Appearance package, which introduces a more aggressive look, with blacked-out trim, and a carbon-fiber rear lip spoiler.

No real leather seats are going to be available for the 2023 Acura Integra. On the plus side, Synthetic leather seats are standard on all trim levels while the Technology package features synthetic leather seats with microsuede inserts. Eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat is standard, but a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat is available through the Technology package.

The Technology package also brings a bigger infotainment screen – nine-inch instead of seven. It also has built-in Alexa with integrated smartphone connectivity, three USBC ports, and wireless charging. Keyless remote engine start is available only on CVT-equipped cars that have the Technology package.

As for the rest of the cabin, there are, unsurprisingly, many parts, shared with the Civic Si, including the center armrest, shaped like a “crab claw”. Of course, all the materials in the 2023 Integra are going to be much more upscale than what is used in the Civic, as the images show. We also know that the Integra is going to have better sound insulation, which would greatly improve comfort.

Final thoughts

As soon as we found out the 2023 Acura Integra was going to be a five-door hatchback, we immediately knew it would be a re-bodied, more upscale Civic. That’s not a bad thing as the Japanese best-seller is a great platform, to begin with. Moreover, with a starting price of around $30,000, the Integra is quite attainable for a premium vehicle, even if on the smaller side.

Whether it stands out enough from the Civic to justify the MSRP remains to be seen. The real treat would be the Type S, but Acura is keeping a tight lip for now.
