93,000 hoverboards from Best Buy have been recalled due to a software malfunction that causes riders to lose control, according to a consumer protection agency.

About 93,000 “Hover-1 Superfly Hoverboards” have been recalled due to a software issue that causes the motor to continually run even when the rider is not actively controlling the board, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The boards’ manufacturer, DGL Group Ltd., recalled the toys on May 19 after receiving 29 reports about the malfunction and four reports of minor injuries, according to the agency.
The 2020 model H1-SPFY was sold in Best Buy stores and on Bestbuy.com between October 2020 and October 2021. They came in black with blue LED lights near the footpads and Hover-1 written on the front of the board.
Owners of these boards should stop using them immediately and contact DGL Group at 888-556-8426 to learn how to send in their boards for free repair, according to the agency. Users can also go to dglusa.com and click on “Safety Recall” to submit a request for repair.
