2022 Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition honors 1966 Le Mans wins

Ford has unveiled its next exclusive version of the 2022 GT, the GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition, which is the last 2022 Heritage Version. It pays tribute to the GT40 MK II race auto that done the 1-2-3 sweep at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966.

“Of all the Ford GT Heritage Edition liveries we have completed, the Holman Moody Heritage Edition’s can not-overlook signature gold and pink concept is an epic tribute to our 1966 Le Mans complete,” said Mike Severson, Ford GT system supervisor. “Inspired by just one of the most effectively-recognised Ford GT40 race cars, this most current Ford GT honors the Holman Moody race team’s knowhow and skill to out-innovate international opponents.”

The Holman Moody team contributed noticeably to the GT40’s race success. Following the 1965 Le Mans race, Ford’s Le Mans committee tasked Holman Moody (and Shelby American) to rework the GT40 MK II so that it would get at the 1966 Le Mans race. Chassis No. P/1016 served the teams tweak the brakes, suspension and tire setups to be far more competitive. The workforce even tested an experimental automatic transmission.

The GT Holman Moody Heritage Version is painted solely in gold and purple livery with Oxford White roundels with No. 5 stamped on the doorways, hood and rear wing to match the visual appeal of the 1966 Ford GT40 raced by Holman Moody. It also gets gloss carbon fiber on the 20-inch wheels, front splitter, aspect sills, mirrors, motor louvers and rear diffuser. Brembo brake calipers lacquered in black with silver graphics, as well as black lug nuts more modernize the aesthetic.

Carbon fiber has been used on door sills, console and registers. There is also a cleaver matte No. 5 roundel on the doorway panels and the ebony Alcantara-wrapped carbon fiber seats feature gold accent stitching. The gold concept carries on with gold appliqués on the instrument panel, doorway register bezels and seat X-brace. The dual-clutch paddle shifters are finished in exterior-matching Holman Moody Gold.
